Freedom

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

Galatians 5:1

We are called to be free in Jesus Christ. Nothing and no one can take that away.

How can we walk in freedom daily, regardless of our circumstances? Psalm 119: 45 states it well…’I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts.‘ When we walk our daily lives with our hearts and minds focused on Jesus, through prayer and His Word, He gives us the ability to discern which way to go, which path to take. I was reminded of this in our service this morning as our pastor repeated a phrase on what we should do when we meet people…’Love at first sight.’

To be up front, this is not an easy thing for me. Daily I need to ask God to help me see everyone, new or people that have been in my life for a significant amount of time, through His eyes and not my own. Why? Because I’m a very faulty person and can be judgmental at times. But God. With His help, through the power of the Holy Spirit, I can love those I wholeheartedly disagree with. I don’t have the power to change who I am. I can only do that through my faith and surrender of my life to Jesus.

And that is where I find my freedom. The realization that I don’t have it all together but with Him I can live a loving and righteous life.

I hope and pray that you can find yourself there too. Lean into Him. He’s waiting for you.

Happy Independence Day!
