In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ~John 1: 1
I’ve been gaining a new appreciation for reading my Bible over the past month. I had gotten into a lull a while ago. Life had gotten in the way. Funny thing is I can always tell the difference in how my day goes. Life can be hectic on a good day but without being in His Word prior to getting my day going….it seems as if all things go wrong, ESPECIALLY my attitude.
I needed to get my phone replaced a few months ago and the app that I use for my daily Bible reading plan didn’t save my information. I was lost in my reading and seemed to have a difficult time getting myself back on track. I finally found a reading plan in the app (Bible app by YouVersion) that allows me to start a ‘Bible in a year’ plan that didn’t have to start on January 1st.
I’m so glad I did.
This time around I have been writing in a small notebook what I read for that day, and anything that stands out. It’s been eye opening, and I am so grateful. Part of that is the reminder that God is and has always been. While the world loves to try to tell us that all that is just magically appeared ‘because it needed to,’ I can know the Truth. We have a Creator.
All that is, from our galaxy, universe, planet, plants, animals to you and I, were created by God through His Son Jesus Christ who IS The WORD of God. He was there in the beginning.
The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him.
John 1:4
Yet the world did not know Him.
Written almost 2000 years ago and the world continues to not know Him. The world seems to be falling into greater chaos than has ever existed before. The television shows and movies that are coming out now, all seem to have one thing in common, they portray everything that leads us into a life away from God, and against God. Films filled with pornography (and should be rated as such and aren’t), to witchcraft and children’s movies filled with references to sexual activities they don’t have the mental or emotional capabilities of understanding.
And yet the opposition to these things that should be there, aren’t. It is so hard for me to fathom how so many do not voice concern on where society is headed. Refusing to voice reservations of what is being done in the presence of children. I wish there was something more that I can do, more than just choosing to not support the organizations that push these sad agendas. It can feel overwhelming and seem as if it is a lost cause….
But God.
His Word warns us that the world would turn into chaos in the last days. To days similar to when Noah lived and served God. The world around us choosing to live for their own gratification, regardless of eternal consequences.
God is of order. Not chaos. Chaos and strife are of the enemy. And God’s Word will ALWAYS stand true. Those are the things we need to stand on. To remember when it seems like there is nothing good happening in the world. You friend are part of the good God has in this world. As believers and follower of Jesus Christ His Son, He has placed you and I to be Salt and Light in this ever-darkening world.
Friend, I encourage you to be in His Word DAILY. Let His Word guide you in your day to day living.
Pray and meditate on the following Scriptures. Let God guide you in how to live obediently for Him.
But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.-Galatians 5:16
When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.-John 16:13
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.-Romans 12:2
No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.- 1 Corinthians 10:13
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.-Proverbs 3: 5-6
Jesus came to save us from sin so we can spend eternity with Him. He has placed us where, and when, for such a time as this. Trust Him in that. He IS coming back, just as His Word tells us (James 5:7, John 14:3 etc).
Be blessed my friend,
Happiest New Year to you and yours.
