“You alone are the LORD You have made the heavens, The heaven of heavens with all their host, The earth and all that is on it, The seas and all that is in them You give life to all of them And the heavenly host bows down before You.” Nehemiah 9:6
If what I’ve seen is correct, we are supposed to be able to witness a full solar eclipse this August. We unfortunately will not have the pleasure to see it in full here in the North East US. It has been over 20 years since I’ve witnessed one they are truly is spectacular.
I’ve just been given a new appreciation of this phenomenon. In his book ‘The Case For A Creator’ author Lee Strobel interviews several scientists about what science shows about the need-or lack of need- for a creator. One specific part of the book discussed solar eclipses and how Earth is the ideal place to witness one. The scientist said that due to the sun being 40 thousand (?) times larger than our moon and that it is also that same distance away from each other it allows us to witness this beautiful part of our planetary beauty. No other planet has the experience as awesome as we do.
Several years ago I had read part of the book ‘I Don’t Have Enough Faith To Be An Atheist’ by Norman Geisler…only part because it was SO technical and specific in it’s information-very scientific. Lee Strobel’s book is much the same in the information provided but is put more in laymans terms. Both books, however, show that science is showing the need for a creator. In Strobel’s book several scientific methods are discussed and show that Darwin’s theory on evolution really holds no truth to it where complicated life (humans and animals) is concerned.
Origin of life experts are showing, often to their own chagrin, that prior to the time period they call* the Cambrionic Explosion (Big Bang Theory) the only life forms were single cell ameoba and sponges. It was immediately after the ‘Big Bang’ that complicated life forms appeared-humans and animals. There is NO evidence of an evolutionary period for complicated life forms. There is evidence of this for plant life-but not complicated life forms known as macro-evolution v.s. micro-evolution*. As Lee Strobel stated toward the end of his book-scientists need to take a ‘blind leap of faith’ to not admit the need for a creator.
The book went into so many specifics-scientific specifics-on the need for a creator. It discussed, not only evolution and Earth’s history, but that of our universe. How the placement of Earth in our specific galaxy is really by no accident at all. How all the planets around us actually keep us safe from other dangers-such as asteroids.
Friends, God IS our creator. And He created YOU and me on purpose. He loves us so much and wants to show it to us personally. He wants us to enjoy this beautiful and awesome planet and universe* that He created, specifically for us.
This time of Lent is an awesome time to do this. Jesus came for you and I my friend. Come and let us enjoy the life here He created for us.
Have an awesome Friday!
In Jesus’ precious name.
