“As you have done, it shall be done to you; Your reprisal shall return upon your own head.” Obadiah 1:15b
Do unto others…a very familiar verse, which is found in different forms in a few books of the Bible. Oh boy, can that be a tough one at times! We may want others to treat us with respect but we, at times at least, would rather not do the same to them. It can be very tempting to return to others how they have treated us. The nasty attitudes, the gossiping, anger, games played with our emotions…at our jobs, home and even church.
The best thing we can do, and what we should be doing, is going to God with all of these situations (and once again I needed this reminder myself yesterday). It is only through the work of the Holy Spirit that we are able to make changes in ourselves. It is by the Grace of God that He does this for us. Because He loves us with all that He is. It may sound silly but the more we get to know God, through reading His Word, being in prayer (and meditation) and fasting when you can, do we really start having a personal relationship with Him. And through that relationship we will find ourselves falling in love with Him.
All too often I hear about how the Word is the ‘bloodiest’ book ever written-and yeah, it has it’s tough parts-but as a whole…it is a love letter. A love letter from God to you and to me. It shows, story after story, how much He truly loves us. How He does not utilize someone because they are ‘so’ good at certain things. NO. He has used, and still uses, those of us who are so immensely faulty, lived very sinful lives, are insecure-and the list is endless. And one thing I never noticed before…in the Word He used the second born rather than the first born. How awesome is that?!
WE are all that second born. We are His adopted children. He CHOSE us.
I’m crying here trying to find the right words to tell you how much He wants you. ALL of you. He knows you, He formed you, He created YOU purposely.
I pray that He touches your heart, mind and spirit today. That through Him you will be able to love all those around you.
In Jesus’ precious name.
“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit. Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will return to you.” Psalm 51:10-13
