Standing Firm

“‘If you are not firm in faith, you will not be firm at all.’” Isaiah 7:9

I can be a bit dense at times…a little slow on the uptake. I’m like my mom like that. We can’t always grasp the concept of something right away. Although I am getting a little better at it. So, when I read this piece of Scripture a while back, it didn’t click right a way for me. And then…. I GOT IT! Continue reading “Standing Firm”

A Light In The Darkness

The Lord is my light and my salvation- so why should I be afraid? the Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?” Psalm 27:1

It really seems that life is so much busier than it was in my parents generation. The adults (often both parents) are working long hours while even the kids seem to have no free time. If they aren’t participating in a group in school, they’re in several different sports-leaving them with just enough time to get their school work done. Society seems to think that the busier you are the better your life will be. Unfortunately it often leads to an overwhelming amount of stress, depression, anxiety…is it all really worth it? Walking By…

“If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.” Galatians 5: 25-26

It really seems to be the theme for this week…the reminder to walk with God, within His strength and not my own. I’m definitely struggling with this lately. It’s all too easy to speak the words that I’m Ok with God’s will in any aspect of my life but my heart isn’t fully feeling it. Patience? What’s that?! Continue reading “Walking By…”

Actions Speak Louder Than Words

‘Therefore thus says the Lord God: “Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation, a tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; Whoever believes will not act hastily.”‘ Isaiah 28:16

It can be a struggle for me at times, often actuallly, to change different aspects of who I am. One of my biggest ‘sin’ issues is my temper-and therefore language-when I drive. Most days arent too bad, but others…oh boy! Continue reading “Actions Speak Louder Than Words”

Good Enough?

“But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” Titus 3: 4-7

More often than not these days I feel like I’m coming up short in just about every area of my life. More than likely it’s Satan playing his usual games and planting doubts in my heart and mind. Sadly, I’m all too willing a partcipant lately. Continue reading “Good Enough?”
