Endurance

The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.” Exodus 14:14

My Bible study group has been working through the book ‘A Life Beyond Amazing’ by Dr. David Jeremiah. It is a book about how to live the fruits of the spirit out in our daily lives. We read about ‘Endurance’ this week. And I love God’s timing on this chapter. So much is going on with my husband and I that it truly feels like we are under spiritual attack.

From safety concerns in an area for me and work issues that are plaguing my husband. And so often it is Satan utilizing those around us to try and trip us up. When I found out about the particulars of my honey’s situation I shot out a text to a few friends for intercessory prayer, asking them to stand in the gap for him and bring petitions to God for strength, guidance and protection.

Sad to say, if we were younger I don’t think that these situations that we are going through would be so troubling. But the closer you get to retirement age, these situations can be scary. Although we both have been immeasurably blessed by the jobs that we have had, working for the same ‘organizations’ for basically our entire working careers, it has also put us in a spot as well. It’s kind of like the concept of ‘putting all your eggs in one basket’.

God is fighting this battle for us. We need to stand aside and do as Psalm 46:10 states;

Be still and know that I am God.

The word silent in Exodus 14:14 means; to be deaf, to cease.

Well, isn’t that easier said than done sometimes?! 😩 I don’t know about you but I know I have a difficult time standing aside and not saying or doing what I THINK needs to be done. Then I get the gentle reminder that God knows better than I do. He knows the end from the beginning of these situations. And I know that He loves us with every ounce of Who He is.

There may be some bumpy roads still ahead in our situations, and I’ll ask you to lift them in prayer too, please. But going forward I will hold onto the promises of God.

The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.” Exodus 14:14

For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble; he will conceal me under the cover of his tent; he will lift me high upon a rock.” Psalm 27:5

Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the Lord your God is the one who goes with you. He will not fail you or forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1

The Bible-His Word, is packed full of guidance and is an awesome source of strength. I pray that God will guide you and protect you.

In Jesus’ precious name.

  1. I needed to read this today. Keep on encouraging us with God’s promises. Thanks for always being there to pray with and for me. May God strengthen our faith. When we are faced with fright and fight situations in life let our first instinct be to cling to the rock of all ages, Christ. Thanks 🙏 God’s richest blessings and steadfast love. Cheryl
